What is an Agency Advance and why has it been deducted from my wages

In many cases, there can be problems with your timesheet being received by the recruitment agency and this delay can often mean that the instruction to pay you doesn't come over in the usual fashion. Sometimes, our recruitment agency partners ask us to 'advance' some money to you in the meantime.

An agency advance is a NET payment that is paid to yourself. The funds for this payment are from Clipper Contracting Group; we pay these so that we can make sure that you receive payment within the appropriate timeframe. This is merely an estimate of what your net pay should be, paid as a bank transfer.

There are multiple reasons why you might have received an Agency Advance, the most common reason is due to timesheet delays. An advance is based on an underestimation of the hours your agency believe you have completed; this ensures you are not overpaid for the work you have completed.

Once we receive the official timesheet from your agency for the work you have completed, we will process this as normal, calculating the correct deductions. With this, we will therefore deduct the Agency Advance (already paid to you) from the calculated Gross Pay. This is because this money is owed to Clipper Contracting Group, and you have already received this money through the Agency Advance. If we did not deduct this, it would mean you would be overpaid.
